name that tune:

Scan the cafeteria for some good seating
I found a good seat by the cheerleaders eating
The quarterback asked me if I'd like a beating
I said, "That's one thing I won't be needing"
And since I'm rather smart and cunning
I took off down the next hall running
Only to be stopped by a girl so stunning...

my guitar sounds like butt right now. I need new strings. It's like it's out of tune, but it's not. So NOT awesome.

A very funny series of events occured over email in the past few days.

There's a little boy at my church who is named, you guessed it, Nathan Wong. He's about four years old, and he has laid claim to the name "Nathan." At any rate, his mom sent an email out to the church asking for prayer for "little" Nathan, because he had been injured on the playground by a swing, and had to have staples put into his head (his scalp couldn't handle the stitches yet).

So his mom sends out another email this morning:

Hi all,

Nathan had his staples removed yesterday afternoon.
The doctor said it's healing well, but there will be

Last night when we prayed for him, he said "You don't
need to pray for my head anymore, God fixed it. But
you do need to still pray for my allergies." He knows
that God healed his head quickly and was wondering why
it was taking so long for him to "fix" his allergies.

He knows that you were all praying for him and wanted
to make certain that we thanked you!

High-larious. Oddly enough, I suffered a similar head injury when i was around that age. I'm okay... but God still hasn't "fixed" my allergies.

Happy Friday.

so it turns out i have a contingent of readers in San Diego. Whoda thunk? Too bad they got swept by the Giants. MUAHAHA.

i pray above all things that Your will be done.

Um.. nothing against my sister... she had no other alternative....
But flavored coffee in the morning is the worstest. UGH. I've got half a mind to go out and buy some regular coffee.

Hebrew starts again today. Whoopee. On the bright side, there's no more learning. That is to say, we've learned all the grammar. So, it's pure exegesis from here. (Exegesis = explanation or interpretation of the text). Wohoo! We'll be studying Jonah in Hebrew. Should prove to be fun. I'll keep you posted.

A teaser:

Near as I can tell, the first few words read: "These are the words of Yahweh to Jonah..." Granted, I could be reading out of the english bible, but you're gonna have to take my word for it.

i was watching tv, and i saw a commercial for K-Swiss... and i had a short flashback to summer camp....

K-Swiss was code for... well, you know...

if you don't know... here's a clue:

"dude... behind you... k-swiss."

So... i was doing the hygiene bit this morning... and i realized that i have darkened by at least three to four shades. Starting to feel a little more Filipino every day.

Oh, I've also got a little Rudolph action going on.

he's a GG!

(He's a Great God!)

he's as GG!

(He's a Great God!)

yeah, so... camping was

The company was good, the weather was good, the food was GOOOOD.

Ben and I meet up at around 10 am to start preparations... it's the first time i've seen Ben actually frazzled. Hehe... After some last minute shopping, we pack up the Corolla and head out to pick up Cindy at Home Depot on Auto Mall Expy in Fremont. And, apparently, Alice has a boyfriend. QLB? It was at this point that I decided that THINGS ARE CHANGING TOO QUICKLY. So we begin the trek up the coast towards Salt Point. The first hour or so was ho-hum, but as soon as we hit the coast, oh... my.... gosh.... Take a look:

So we get out to the campsite, and decide that the Gerstle Cove side of the campground was too freakin' cold, and we shift over to the Woodside side. Very, very nice. We go watch the sunset:

and see some huge waves crashing on the rocks:

Bert and Nomi show up at around 9pm, and we eat Ben's bomb-diggity stir fry. mmmmm..... Sorry, no pics. it was too dark.

After a rousing morning of trying to get a fire started:

And roasting Milanos over an open flame... (set some time aside for you AND the flavor)

We head out to Gerstle Cove again for some climbing and sliding.... I find my stoop overlooking God's creation:

And we move on:

And on:

And we decide to hoof it back to the campsite:

But not without our share of National Geographic Pulitzer Prize Winners:

(Daniel, that last one's for you... and there's plenty more where that came from... hehe.)

After that, we go over to the RO-DO-DEN-DRON forest... where we find the "marriage tree":

(Two become one... comment by NY... "they look like legs..." I won't post the counter comment)

There was a divorce tree, too... but it was too depressing, so we didn't take a picture. And we all felt right at home:

So, we move on to Stump Beach. Good stuff.

Cindy finds a cool stick shaped like a "Y":

But then Nate looks around and BAM!

Ben and I found Trogdor on the beach:

So... we head back to the campsite to change, then we go out to Fisk Mill Cove for the sunset. I was awake for the 3-4 minutes before the sunset, but then I fell asleep on that warm rock DURING the sunset. Curses. Ah, well. one of the best naps i've ever had.

Then we went back to the campsite for the bomb-diggity spaghetti dinner. Busted out the guitars for an awesome worship time. Prayed, went to sleep.

When we woke up the next morning, i was waiting outside one of the two un-NASTY bathrooms, and the guy from across the road says to me:

guy: "was that you guys with the guitars last night?"
me: "yeah. totally lost track of time, didn't know if we were going too late..."
g: "oh, no... it was perfect, it put me right to sleep."
m: "oh, cool. Whatever we can do to help."

God works. Awesome.

Then... we packed up the gear, but only after a couple group shots:

And headed out to Goat Rock Beach (I didn't see any goats). But before we got there, NY leaned out of the Accord with arms flailing while screaming "PULL OVER!" Turns out she just wanted to look around. And we took more pictures:

So we finally get to Goat Rock and we start walkin':

And i catch some cool pics of flowers:

Then we climb down to the beach:

Where we catch some more cool pics of waves and rocks:

NY did some climbing... (check out those guns):

Then we lunched at the Sizzling Tandoor (grubbin):

Where Bert recounted his life as a millionaire while Nate listens intently:

Then we hit the road and headed home. Whew. Long weekend.

And now, for some bonus pics:

Ben rejoices at his throwing accuracy, Nomi points and laughs, Nate is dumbfounded.

Ben takes a breather in the RO-DO-DEN-DRON forest.

Bert loses control of the divining rod.

Nate tries to find water.

While Ben and Nate are speeding down Highway 1...

Cindy is asleep.

For Daniel....

Creativity at its best.

I don't know if this is going to work... but it's a really funny little movie:

And that is all. whew. Hope you enjoyed it.
